Great days out
There are plenty of fabulous days out to keep all in the family happy in the region. With easy access to both Devon and Cornwall, Forda offers the perfect base to explore both!
Forda is just over a mile from the village of Kilkhampton. In the village you will find friendly pubs, eateries and a surprising range of local shopping – including a post office and newsagent, butchers, two convenience village stores (Premier & Spar), gift shops, a Chinese takeaway, home-made pizza take-away and much more. You can also make use of the village skateboard park and children's play area. Just outside the village our local Farm Shop sells its own meat and vegetables, local bacon and sausages, homemade pasties, bread and cakes.
We are a few minutes from the Tamar Lakes with fishing, watersports, sailing and canoeing.
The nearest beaches (Sandymouth & Duckpool) are just three miles away in the Atlantic Heritage Coastal region with its rugged coastline and sandy bays, providing spectacular walks and with the Atlantic rollers drawing surfers from all over the world.
The small, friendly resort of Bude is six miles away, with its beaches, tidal sea water swimming pool and modern indoor leisure pool, 18-hole golf course and many other sports facilities. Bude has been welcoming visitors since Victorian times and today the charm and atmosphere of a traditional seaside resort are retained in harmony with modern services. Bude has its own beaches and to the south is the beautiful beach of Widemouth Bay. A few minutes walk from the town centre you can explore the dramatic scenery of the South West Coastal Path or discovering the historic and famous Bude Canal. Forda is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful coastline of Cornwall and North Devon, whether for the rugged scenery or the numerous picturesque ports, including Padstow (made famous by Rick Stein's enthusiasm for seafood) and Port Isaac (made famous by the TV series Doc Martin). Inland you can explore the rolling countryside of Devon and Cornwall or the more dramatic landscapes of Exmoor, Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.
The attractions, theme parks, houses and gardens are too numerous to mention – but don't worry, at Forda you will find us fully stocked with leaflets on all of them and you are more than welcome to ask our advice on which are of most interest to you and which are most applicable for your small ones.

With some of the best surfing beaches in the country, there are several shops in Bude. For hiring and purchasing wetsuits, boards and much more, try Zuma Jay surf shop.
